About the Temple
Spread across the dense gorges of the Nallamala hills, Ahobilam comprises nine distinct shrines dedicated to Lord Narasimha ( Nava Narasimha), marking the legendary spot where the deity slew the demon Hiranyakashipu. The Upper Ahobilam houses the cave sanctuary where the fierce manifestation occurred, while Lower Ahobilam features expansive multi-pillared halls built by the Vijayanagara emperors, showcasing rich sculptural details and stone architecture.
